Norway Killer Asks For Medal Of Honour (7th February, 2012)

Anders Behring Breivik, the man who killed 77 people in Norway on July 22, 2011, has asked a court to be set free. The 32-year-old Norwegian told the court people should view him as a hero and that he should receive a medal of honour. He said he murdered so many people to try and stop "an Islamic colonization of Norway". Breivik claims he's head of a militant group that wants to overthrow European governments. He wants to replace them with leaders who would deport Muslim immigrants.

The horror Breivik committed was Norway’s worst peacetime massacre. He set off a car bomb that killed eight people outside a government building in the capital Oslo. He then went to Utoeya island, 40 kilometres northwest of Oslo and shot and killed another 69 people, mainly teenagers attending a summer camp. Around 100 survivors and relatives of victims were in court to hear Breivik’s request to be treated like a hero. They watched in disbelief as he showed no remorse for his many crimes.
