Whalers in Japan are the Sea Shepherd Conservation Society. The campaign has tried every year to stop the Japanese ships from and killing whales in the Antarctic. Sea Shepherd boats have into the Japanese boats to try to them from hunting. Now the whalers are fighting – in the courts in Seattle, Washington. They are legal action to try to stop Sea Shepherd from things “at sea that could cause to the crews and to the vessels”.

It is the first whalers from Japan have used foreign courts anti-whaling campaigners. The Sea Shepherd group says Japan is whaling for profits, something that is banned a 1986 International Whaling Commission agreement. The Japanese say they are whaling research purposes. They told the world’s that their whaling programme was “ contributing to the advancement of scientific knowledge of whale in the Antarctic”. They also said the Sea Shepherd’s could people.
