6A Is The Perfect Airplane Seat ( 27th April, 2012)

A survey taken by over 1,000 airline passengers shows that seat 6A is the best on an airplane. The study was done by the flight-comparison website Skyscanner.com. The site questioned people about which section of the airplane they preferred to sit in and whether they chose a window, middle or aisle seat. The researchers found that the front six rows of the plane were most popular. This was because it was quicker to get off after landing, there was less engine noise and a better choice of food.

The least popular seat was 31E. This is a middle seat towards the back of the aircraft. It is farthest from the exits and the toilets. Window seats were popular among passengers on long-haul journeys because it is easier to sleep. Those on short-haul flights prefer an aisle seat so they don't disturb other passengers when going to the toilet. Some passengers preferred to sit above the wings to reduce the effects of turbulence. The survey also found that 62 per cent of people prefer an even-numbered seat.
